Vicki Erdley, President of the Barefoot Reunion with Grandpuppy Riley
NOTES FROM THE PRESIDENT

Once again it is time to look ahead to the Barefoot Reunion. It is hard to imagine that another year has gone by already. Last year we were fortunate to have beautiful weather and a good crowd for our reunion. Thanks to Barb Barefoot for volunteering to have games for the children. Everyone who participated had great fun even when they had to sit on the balloons to pop them. We all cheered them on as they raced to each chair. The artwork to take pictures with was a big hit; I think we might have had one or two adults try that one out.

Once again the food couldn’t be topped! We have some of the best cooks in the world who bring their tasty dishes to share with us each year. I can’t wait to see what everyone brings this year. Dorothy Barefoot
Of course we could not have such a great dinner if Dorothy Barefoot and her daughter Penny Espenshade did not oversee the food. Here our dinner organizer Penny Espenshade is getting a thank-you kiss from Dave Masters.

I am grateful to my mother, Betsy Hawthorne, for all of her work looking for obituaries and helping me with the mailing of the postcards and to Sylvia Coleman and Dale McLaughlin who are always on the lookout for Barefoot obituaries.
Sylvia Hott Sonneborn
What would we do without my aunt, Sylvia Sonneborn, who dedicates hours and hours to give us this informative newsletter each year. This is the eleventh year for the newsletter, and it keeps us up to date on the happenings within the family. I encourage each of you to write to us and let us know what is going on with your families. This is a wonderful way to preserve our heritage for our descendants. Each year we save the newsletters, and eventually that will become a book to bind for the future reunions. Let us hear of old memories and new memories. Share with us the facts and we can write.
I wish to thank all of you who so generously donate money, items to sell, time, and planning to the reunion.

Thanks to them. We thank Bill and Tim Barefoot for the sound system, and also to Tim who has created a website for us. Tim Barefoot - our webmaster

We thank researchers, like Sylvia Coleman and Gary Mickle, Sharon Sheldon and Becky Barefoot and those from the past and present who keep track of the clan. We are grateful for those who conduct music and entertain, and Bill Barefoot for passing the hat. [And from the officers, “Most of all, we are grateful to Vicki Erdley for serving as the president of the Barefoot Reunion and for her leadership in keeping this great family together.”].
What would we do without Bobbie and Maryann for the auctions we hold to help raise money to pay for our reunions. It takes a lot of people to put a reunion together, and we are blessed to have people willing each year to step in and help us out. I look forward each year to see who will win the prizes; farthest traveled, youngest child, oldest man, oldest woman, married the longest, most recently married. Come see if you can be one of the winners this year! Come and share the fun with us and meet some other Barefoot ancestors! Spend the afternoon with us getting to know one another and learning the stories of years gone by. We look forward to seeing all of you there.
