James Barefoot Home in Pleasantville, Bedford, PA

It is fitting that we should start off this eleventh edition of the Barefoot Bulletin with a new photo of the James Barefoot home in Barefoot Hollow, Rt. 56, west of Pleasantville, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Dale McLaughlin was in contact with a Slick Family that had the photo, and the family felt that it should be in the hands of a member of the Barefoot Clan. Dale was the lucky recipient of the original photo, and he has shared it with the editor to include in our newsletter. The house burned in March 1933.

  1. My name is Dan Howsare and my family owns property just west of Pleasantville. I'm trying to pinpoint the exact location of the house mentioned here. I know our property was deeded to Barefoot family in the late 1800's, we also have several old (long gone)homesteads on our land. Is there any chance this Barefoot homestead was located on our land? There is remains of an old homestead that has some charred wood in the old stone foundation
